Des Moines northeast mixmaster traffic
shift expected this weekend
DES MOINES , Iowa – June 6, 2007 – Weather permitting, this weekend the mixmaster interchange connecting Interstates 35, 80 and 235 northeast of Des Moines will undergo significant change due to the following traffic shifts.
- Temporary connecting ramps will provide access from both eastbound and westbound I-80 to northbound I-35 and southbound I-235. This will provide eastbound I-80 access to southbound I-235, which has been unavailable since fall 2006.
- A new southbound roadway will now join I-35 with I-235.
- A temporary connection will shift northbound I-235 traffic over the new southbound bridges. The traffic flow over these bridges will eventually be reversed when the new northbound bridges are completed later this summer.
A map depicting these changes is available on the Web at: http://www.i235.com/ne_mixmaster.htm.
All work in this area is scheduled for completion at the end of the 2007 construction season.
