Interstate ramp closure reminder for
 Iowa/Iowa State game travelers

AMES, Iowa – Sept. 14, 2007 – The Iowa Department of Transportation reminds travelers of an interstate ramp closure that could affect fans returning to eastern Iowa from Ames on Saturday following the University of Iowa versus Iowa State University football game.

The southbound I-35 to eastbound I-80 ramp at the northeast mixmaster in Des Moines remains closed. Traffic will follow a marked detour.  Traffic should use caution approaching the mixmaster, as southbound I-35 traffic will be detoured to the right at the I-35/I-80 westbound exit ramp. For motorists unprepared for the detour, this could cause some last minute lane changes that could result in rear-end crashes.

As always, use extra caution in the work zone and pay close attention to all warning signs and the lighted changeable message boards posted on the route.

Weather permitting, the ramp will re-open Wednesday, Sept. 19.
