Northeast mixmaster work wraps up for the season

DES MOINES, Iowa – Nov. 16, 2007 – Road work on the mixmaster joining Interstates 35, 80 and 235 will conclude for the season next week.

The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) says projects on the interchanges at the mixmaster in 2007 included connecting I-35 and I-235 on a new, more streamlined alignment.

Iowa DOT officials say road work will resume in the spring with the planned replacement of two bridges that now serve as the I-235 northbound entrance ramps to I-80. These projects are expected to wrap up at the end of the 2008 construction season.

In the 2009 construction season, similar bridge replacements are planned for the I-35 southbound entrance ramps to I-80.
